I am a frequent visitor to Menards on Alpine Avenue. We are prepping for winter here in Michigan and I needed some lubricants and crack sealer for the house and garage doors. The best part about Menards is their vast selection of items and the friendly, helpful employees. They have every product known to man from candy and milk to tools, lumber and roofing. It’s my go to for “Big Box” stores and their pricing is 2nd to none. I highly recommend this location!

I took a break from Bow hunting and went thru the drive-thru window at Jimmy John’s subs in Lowell. There were 2 vehicles in front of me so it took about 3 minutes before I could place my order. I ordered a Chicken Caesar wrap with BBQ chips and a Large Root beer. It was really excellent with very fresh ingredients. Once I placed my order it was prepared in given to me in less than 4 minutes. If you find yourself Lowell give them a try!

Wanted to brag about my favorite Meat Market today. I have been patronizing Franks Market since I was a little kid. My dad would take me there to see his friend Frank Stanitzek and buy freshly butchered meat. They have been in business for over 90 years and at least 4 generations of family. We love all their selections but never leave without at least some of the Hot sticks, Jerky and Kielbasa. Everything is still cut and made onsite and the flavors reflect it. It is one of our favorite stops and we go often. Give it a try, you will LOVE it!!

I had a great lunch with 2 friends today at Salvatore’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza. Decorated like old world Italy you feel like you are in an Italian village instead of the West side of Grand Rapids. Our waitress Abygail was very prompt and friendly and made us feel like she was happy to have our business. We all just had water to drink and ordered salads. I had a Caesar salad and added chicken which came on the side. I thought this was a nice touch so the hot grilled chicken did not wilt the lettuce. The Romaine was fresh cut and it was a big portion. The dressing was very flavorful and tangy, I would guess it was homemade based on the flavor. My croutons were crunchy and really added to the satisfaction level. My friends had an Italian chefs salad with Pepperoni, Mozzarella, Romaine lettuce, Grape tomatoes and Black olives. Our meals were excellent and made for a great lunch. They have a full menu here including pizza with homemade ingredients. I highly recommend Salvatore’s for your next Italian outing.

We celebrated our Granddaughters 14th Birthday last week in Arizona. We all LOVE BoSa Donuts and so we went there Saturday morning. We picked out a variety of donuts including Boston Crème, Strawberry frosted w/ sprinkles, Chocolate covered w/sprinkles, Glazed Bear Claw, a Long John and Glazed Twist. All the donuts were very good, fresh made and well frosted/glazed. They also have great coffee, Bagels, breakfast sandwiches….Etc. We love supporting this family owned business and they work hard with great service. We will back soon!!

Bought lunch at The Toasted Pickle yesterday for 4 people. As usual the sandwiches were EXCELLENT! We had 2 French Dips, a Sixie from Dixie and a Nashville Hottie. We ordered 2 orders of Hottie Waffle Fries that come with Goat Cheese also, they are too DIE for! We usually dine in but did a take out instead today. Unfortunately they tagged our order with someone else’s receipt and they took our order by accident. Once they figured it out they quickly remade our order and we were on our way. Very unusual to have this kind of mistake at The Pickle but still a little frustrating. The manager was very apologetic and threw in 4 cookies for our troubles. We will be back for sure because we absolutely love their food!!

We took a trip to Schwalliers today to “You Pick’ apples and have donuts and cider. As usual we had a great time and everything was DELICIOUS! We picked Honey Crisps, Snapdragons and Granny Smith apples right from the trees. We took advantage of their 1 peck bag for $20.00 dollars. This allowed us to pick multiple varieties, which we LOVE. Afterwards we stopped in their store for a half gallon of fresh cider and we bought 3 types of fresh made donuts Pumpkin with cream cheese frosting was my favorite! We also bought powdered and apple cinnamon donuts. We love Schwalliers and our fall traditions there. Give them a try, they are a 10/10 in my book!!

The BEST Corn Dogs I have ever had! Just the right amount of batter and the all Beef hot dogs are a perfect combination. The service was very fast and the 2 young ladies serving were very welcoming and fun. They quickly added a slather of Ketchup & Mustard on both dogs to top them off. We also ordered a Rootbeer to share and it was another must have to compliment the Corn Dogs. Pricing was good and we were in and out quick. They even hand wrote a receipt for us! Don’t miss this fun spot on your next trip to Grand Haven!!

I ordered a Black coffee and a S’Mores muffin. The owner Butch was behind the counter and reminded me that they make their muffins fresh every morning and also have their own fresh ground coffee beans. You can tell because the muffins are so tasty and moist and the Muffin Tin coffee blend is excellent and has a bold flavor. On other occasions I have ordered several other muffins like Oat & Topping, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip and Blueberry. They all were excellent as well. Also on the menu are other breakfast favorites like Quiche, Waffles and Breakfast sandwiches. It’s our every morning stop when we are at Torch Lake and I HIGHLY recommend you stop here!!

I ordered a Large Blueberry malt, extra thick which is my favorite ice cream treat. The server was prompt with my order and it was exactly how I ordered it. Dairy Treat is one of my favorite stops when we go to Grand Haven State Park. The owner was working as well and took time to speak with us and thank us for our business. The counters were clean and supplied with napkins as well as their seating area for enjoying our “Treats” while viewing the boats in the channel. I will definitely be back soon!!
